Diwali Gift Book Box Card

Hello!
Happy Friday!

On Diwali,
as sweets are exchanged,
crackers are burnt,
flowers and rangolis decorate your home,
thousands of lamps illuminate the earth.

It is a festive season with loved ones at home so gift them in exclusive way and surprised them. Here I am presenting an exclusive Book Box Card greetings to your loved ones this Diwali.

I took a lot of pictures to explain well.
I used a 300 gsm white sheet to make my book box card.
I cut the sheet 18" X 8" for the book cover. Here are the dimensions where you have to fold and marked.

My card is 18 inches wide and folded the 2 inches in the middle to make the spine and then marked only the 8 inches from both the sides.
For the book pages, you need 4 sheets measuring 8" X 4.1" in all.

Now fold and creased these in every 1 c.m. intervals using my Score Board.

Now fold the strips in fanfold/mountain fold/valley fold style. Take care that everything is going to be nice!

Now put together the stiffeners and press together as shown in the below pics.

And glue the back together. That's how should it look like!

The frame is ready and now I covered it with a border frame in a raspberry pink sheet with frilled lace.

I selected some gold print sheets from Forever always paper packs and adhered accordingly on my card base with raspberry pink matting.
Now paste the box frame into the card base inside and make the rest.
I placed a pretty ribbon to close my box securely.

The front panel:

Made a 3D rectangle frame window shaker using thin cut dies. I placed a cute Lord
Ganesha with shaker elements, some handmade flowers, chippies and textures. And added a Celebrate sentiment using a layer of white foam.

Firstly I applied some sparkle pastes using a stencil.

Die-cut some flowers out of glitter sheets.

Shaped them through embossing pad and added some pollens.

Applied metallic copper blaze wax to prime chippies.

The inside view of the book box:

Added a pocket at inside left panel. And placed a card with Diwali greetings. Decorated the panel with handmade flowers.

Now the right-side panel!

I decorated the interior with loads of flowers and some Earthen Diyas.
Tip: You can adjust the papers and embellishments to fit whatever theme you would like.

The backside view:

Added a tassel at front spine panel.

I hope you enjoyed the pictorial and will have a try at a book box for yourself!

Antique Clay art Sculpture for Home Decor!

Hello!

As you all know this is a festive month full of fun and enjoyment with family, guests and friends!
Its time to clean up your house and give it a new life.
I am sure that you would agree that having a unique decor piece at your home can be the talk of the town, especially when you can boast about how you made it yourself.

Who doesn't like to create an antique piece for your home decor? But it can cause a huge hole in your pocket. It doesn't mean that you cannot have one.
You can make one for your home on your own. I am so excited and presenting you a step by step tutorial of an altered Mixed Media decor piece for your tablescape!!
I also gave a waste tape roll a new life and converted it into a clay art sculpture!

Firstly I altered a wooden base which I had for the last 3 years and waiting to use for in an artistic way. And I took an empty tape roll.

I directly applied charcoal chalk paint to this wooden piece.

Then gave a coat of lemon chiffon color strokes randomly.

Using  rolling stones stencil I applied Chocolate Fudge stone texture paste on all the surface.  And highlighted it with copper blaze metallic wax.

Then added some mixed media stones and some tiny pebbles from my stash for placing my sculpture pot with some handmade flowers to embellish as well.

Now time for the fun part!
I covered the tape roll with modelling clay and converted it into a pot.
I  also used my baking tools for some textures as you can see in the pics below.

I especially moulded the pot neck from one side to fit a clay old person figurine to sit on the pot. These tools are really so helpful to make this sculpture!

 Here are some more pics:

As you can see some cracks appeared, but don't fret, I covered all these using my rose milk stone texture paste.

Gave a coat of fire brick tinted metallic paint as it had dual shade tone with gold. and to the old man gave a coat of Caribbean teal metallic paint carefully. Now highlighted the textures with antique gold metallic wax.

Embellished the pot with some handmade flowers with ferns.

Gave a coat of glitter dust to cover my tea light candles top.

I added some pearl drops to the turban and shawl to give it a rustic village look.
Planted some real leaves inside for more natural feel!
I love nature!

Did you enjoy the whole process of this altered art? Do try it on something old or unused and tell me how it turned out :)
I am sure you can try this out in your style now and adorn your pooja room or table!
