Mixed media art

Hello Crafters!
This is week 4th  at  Case Study 4th Anniversary! They are featuring their former muses, present and past Design Team Girls!!! It has a week full of  great inspirations and amazing projects!!! I had a hard time to decide which muse to case, all were so talented.

Then, I chose the very talented girl Iwona Palamountain , she has created a stunning mixed media journal page, you can watch at her blog http://www.ipalamountain.com/2014/08/case-study-4th-anniversary-blog-hop/, how she has created this master piece by showing slideshow.....here is her amazing creation......

I amused when I saw this creation , The hand drawn image, the detailing, coloring and layering, back grounding all are so perfect!!!
But I decided to make a card instead of journal page.
Here is my take ......

This is the first time I had done a mixed media card with art journaling and it won't be the last! Thank you so much Iwona for the great inspiration:).
"Art is a harmony parallel to the nature", basically this harmony emerge from music. We all know that music is origin of every art. So , basically my creation is based on this theme depicting an Indian beauty writing a word "Alankar" on a Tadpatra using a Kalam(pen).
My image is hand drawn image on a watercolor sheet and inspired by the book cover page Alankar by an  great Indian Artist" Chaman". It took me some time to think that how to give her a traditional look using mixed media without loosing the simplicity. Hope I am able to capture the impressions.
Have tried to use different textures on the background and shades. I brought her to life. I used my old poster water colors and drew some zetangles shapes using 0 no. brush. I choose red, black, white, mehandi color(using sap green + light brown), to color the image and fussy cut out her.
I started the background on watercolor sheet using gelatos, distress inks, shimmers,  metallic acrylic colors, distress markers  using stenciling, stamping, masking and few splatters.

Here are the close ups with different angles:

I added some random musical note patterns. I added some texture with homemade texture paste and gave them a faded and shabby look. I used my chipboard flourish piece as for stamping behind the beautiful lady

I stamped some butterflies on a watercolor sheet using archival black ink. I coloured the butterflies wings using distress markers by wetting technique, added some metallic shimmer mists and glossy accent  on it for more 3D look.

I matted my image on a floral bed using PP for her. I added a journaling- "Music is the food for the soul. it makes one feel so romantic". This message has meaning and inspiration for me on so many levels.
The sentiment Forever is heat embossed in sliver on a soft green pastel coloured vellum. Then I matted the whole creation on a green coloured CS and placed it on a white CS.

It was so much fun!!! Love how this turned out:)
Mixed media is so much fun, There is no such thing as being perfect and it's a great way to experiment with color, techniques and different products.
I hope you enjoyed my project today. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and for all lovely comments you guys are leaving me, they make my day!

FOR YOU

DSC_1229-001

Hello friends!
I have lot of fun to play these days using watercoluring and CAS cards with lots of wonderful and stunning inspirations!!! This is my 2nd attempt hopping along Case Study 4th Anniversary Blog Hop.  I was inspired by Tasnim Ahmed's Persian motif and black stripes on the card.
     Here is my card........
I don't have big floral image, so I picked up Penny Black -Blooming tags which has a beautiful flower with small details on it. I used a watercolor technique. I heat embossed the whole image with primary ebony embossing powder. I coloured the image using distress inks(Barn door, scattered straw), markers(Mowed lawn, ripe persimmon) and misted it. Then distressed the edges by vintage photo.
A closer view:
I added a pearl white shimmer at the flower center and fussy cut out the tag..
The bold and black chevrons are from a leather textured sheet. I wanted to match the floral image with those shimmer stripes. The sentiment is from the same stamp set and I added a sequins too. These chevrons are hand cut.
 Here is the inside view:
The sentiment is again from penny black-Thinking with stamps set.

Hand painted watercolor card

Hi there!
Happy Friday!
Watercolors are one of the best medium for landscape. I capture the nature scene on my watercolor CS. They may not be perfect or completely finished work of art, but a quick impression with a certain moods and essential color reference.
For this painting I used my watercolors-white, sky blue, cobalt blue, sap green, light green, dark green, mustard yellow, orange, brown and black from Tri-Star watercolor cakes. I combined wet and dry techniques. It is important that the background is painted all at once and we do not touch it any more.
A closer view....
Then, I let it dry and painted the deep forest area with lots of pine trees. After dried it, I used a silhouette stamp from Crafty Individuals for the wild grass, ferns, butterflies and dandelion partially at the bottom edge using archival black ink. I matted it on a white sheet and then on a turquoise CS. The sentiment "smile" is from Darcies Find Joy set and Happy Birthday sentiment is a die from Spellbinder shapeabilities Sentiments and highlighted the scripted words using Sakura White pen. I finished off my card with a Tim Holtz idealogy Jute string in turquoise color adding a bow and button.
 Here is the inside view:
I added a border using jef punch border. And the sentiment is from Stampin' up!- "you are lovely" set. I used an emboss resist technique.  I used Wow opaque bright white ultra fine embossing powder and  Raspberry, scattered straw and peacock feather distress inks and versa green color.
 A closer look......
I hope you like my project!
Hope all you have a day filled with smiles and stamping!

Attered Printer Tray- "Beautiful little Moments"

Hello crafters!!!
A very happy crafty weekend to you!!
I love to challenge myself with new styles and techniques all of the time. I altered a printer tray first time. It has a perfect surface to display photos and collectables. You can also tell a story by displaying photos of your family. I picked up some photos of my brother and sister-in -law, enjoying their trip at Paris, Europe and America. Its a great way to document your trips and relive memories. I had a lot of fun creating this project.
Here is my creation:

I first applied a coat of mod podge matte finish to the wooden board. After dried it, I applied a layer of white acrylic paint. For the texture and distressing look I applied Pearl white and sparkling pearl golden green colour to it, as their living room has a white base with some green and pink texture print on the wall. This really gave a shimmer touch to the frame.
Then I measured and cut out the pattern papers to fit in the squares. Once all paper sheets were securely in place, I began to build my theme scenes in each box  and then pulled out all the yummy goodies I wanted to use. I added a music note paper washi tape along the ledges inside the box.
Here is some close up pictures, enjoyed:). I picked up metal corners and painted them too. look at this beautiful shabby look lace.
I applied glossy accent on the clock for depth. I think this PP is perfect match.
See that gorgeous satin ribbon double loop bow with beautiful diamond beaded leaf charm.
In this box, I adhered a old cameo in a metal charm and attached with a chain which is painted in metallic copper colour. I love these dolls, they are so cute and I embellished this box with some foam flowers, a white flower trim with pearls attached on it, pollens and  hexagon gems.

Who isn't dreaming of Paris, for this compartment I added a little Eiffel Tower charm and matching PP, a shiver flower flourish to make it more romantic look .

For this section, I used a Tim Holtz Alteration shadow Press embossing folder- to create The word "explore". I distresses the edges using Vintage photo distress ink and distress marker for the shadow. Added some epoxy sentiment, adhesive camera tag.
Now, for the next section there is a special wishing theme photo which is very popular place there. So, I divided this section in two. I added a wish epoxy sentiment sticker with a coin attached on a silver circle. I filled a small glass bottle with some blue coloured beads. I rolled a small piece of CS and distress it and placed it in a bottle to create a message.
I love dangling the chain on and in between around the edges of this window box by adding some metal flower charms..
Here is a better view of the bottle and wishing coin:

Now come to the next section, which is belong to great Walt Disney Adventureland!!! At the bottom edge I added a chipboard fence with a Palm tree with some rose flowers .
This is the focal point of the box, I added a heart trim lace at the edge and a heart chain set along their photo. A chipboard LOVE embellish with pearls and a tag with a message.

In this section, I layered the two photos together and attached a pom pom trim lace at the bottom panel, then I glued some pearls in it.
I added a miniature lock and key attached with a chain.
At the last section, I added a sweet little bird sitting on a palm tree along the ledgers inside the box with a fence and flowers.

I am very pleased with the outcome of this printer's tray.  Hope you enjoyed seeing my project. I love to read your  comments and feedback.
Supplies I used:
Patterned Papers; Paper designers retro style papers, Wrapping vintage paper book, Daisy dandelion stack, Summer bloom stack pad, Blossom song stack from DCWV

Hello Crafty people!

I want to show my new card with lots of textures and techniques.
This time I went for a great sketch made by Wenche and entering my card into their challenge.

Here is my take on the sketch: So I am sharing my card-" Birthday love"
Firstly. I made my own background on the Pink CS using Darice Embossing folder-"Basket Weaving" with Raspberry distress ink pad.

on a darker background
Watercolouring is very trendy now a days and I am inspired by with lots of people in crafting world!!! I choose a very sweet image from Darcie's stamp set-Simple joy. Isn't she so cute!!! I stamped the image on watercolour paper and do you know I used  Joy Crafts cut & emboss dies Garden Fence as a stencil. I sketched around it very lightly using a HB drawing pencil. I coloured the whole scene using Distress inks AND SOME Japaneese brush pens.
Have a closer look.......I tried my best to give some effects...HAHAHA:)

I embellished my card for gorgeous look with some white Crochet flowers. I distressed them and highlighted them using loose glitter powder.

I applied  EMBOSSING Powder Resist TECHNIQUE for the sentiment and then distressed it using Tim Holtz Water brush.
on a darker background
Now , have a look at this beautiful border. The butterfly border is from  Memory Box Kensington Border. I clear embossed this border( I repeated the process 4 times to give it a good coating)

I added an arrow washi tape.
And look at this gorgeous butterfly charm......
 Here is the inside view:

a closer view......
